Matt Mayhall is an active drummer, composer, and educator in Los Angeles, CA. His performance credits include gigs with Larry Koonse, Vinny Golia, Peter Epstein, Adam Benjamin, Kristin Korb, and Kathleen Grace. He has also backed artists Patrick Park (Hollywood Records/Curb Appeal) and Miranda Lee Richards (Virgin/Nettwerk), Lenka (Epic/Sony/BMG) and is a member of the band Spain, who has toured the world and released three albums to wide critical acclaim. Matt possesses both BM and MM degrees from the University of Nevada Reno and an MFA in jazz studies from California Institute of the Arts, where he studied drums with Joe LaBarbera, improvisation with Charlie Haden and Wadada Leo Smith, West African drumming with Alfred Ladzekpo, tabla with Randy Gloss and Pandit Swapan Chauduri, and Indonesian gamelan with Mas Bambang Irawan and I Nyoman Wenten.
